Journal history

With 37 years of existence, BJSTD was born to be a suitable and reliable instrument to spread qualified scientific knowledge in the field of DST/ STD/ Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) / HIV-AIDS.

DST - Jornal Brasileiro de Doenças Sexualmente Transmissíveis (Brazilian Journal of Sexually Transmitted Diseases), scientific journal open on the internet, is addressed to associates of SBDST, subscribers, libraries, reference centers, gynecologists, urologists, infectologists, dermatologists, general physicians, family health programs, epidemiologists, biologists, health professionals in general and institutions with partnerships.

As of 2020, we are working with the publication of articles in rolling pass and only online.

The whole content of the collection, since 1989, is available for free on the internet.

Aims

- The BJSTD is an open-access journal dedicated to publishing research in the area of health science.

- Be a suitable and reliable instrument to disseminate scientific sexually transmitted/infections transmitted disseases/STD/STI área.

- To be recognized as a journal of international quality and efficiency.

Scope

DST - Brazilian Journal of Sexually Transmitted Diseases is directed to members of SBDST, subscribers, libraries, reference centers, gynecologists, urologists, infectious disease specialists, dermatologists, clinicians, family health programs, entities with an agreement, and researchers on STD/STI/HIV/AIDS topics. However, SBDST is today an open scientific journal on the internet that has made all its numbers and open volumes available since 1989.

Peer review process

Submitted articles will be analyzed by the secretariat to verify their compliance with the General Publishing Guidelines of the Journal. In case of inadequacy, they will be returned to the authors for correction.

When approved at this stage, they will be sent to the Scientific Editors and Associate Editors to determine their suitability to the Journal's Scope and Editorial Policy.

After this stage, the articles will be sent to two reviewers who will analyze the technical and methodological content, using an evaluation instrument developed for this purpose. In case of discrepancy between the opinions, the article will be forwarded to a third reviewer. Anonymity is guaranteed at all stages of the evaluation process.

The final opinions will be evaluated by the Editorial Board, which will indicate changes that need to be made. The articles will be published only after approval by the referees and the Editorial Board.

Open Access Policy

This journal offers immediate free access to its contents, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater worldwide democratization of knowledge.

This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

BJSTD does not charge any fee for submission and publication of articles in our open scientific journal.
